Surgery

Surgery

Maintaining healthy teeth remains an important and primary task of treatment in dentistry, but sometimes this is not possible and the patient needs to consult a dentist-surgeon. Surgical stomatology provides a complete list of procedures aimed at restoring and preserving tooth rows, aesthetics and functions of the dental and jaw apparatus and includes the following treatment methods:

– dental implantation;
– tooth removal operations;
– atypical removal of wisdom teeth;
– removal of cysts;
– bone plastic.

Any manipulation is performed under local anesthesia. Often, after surgery, a course of antibacterial, pain-relieving, immunomodulatory drug therapy is prescribed to speed up the healing process and prevent complications. Also, if necessary, an additional examination recommended by the doctor (X-ray control, CT scan) is carried out.

In any case, the surgeon will choose an individual treatment plan for you and will make every effort to preserve the natural tooth.

FAQ

There are a number of indications for wisdom tooth removal, namely:

• Pulpitis or periodontitis.
• A wisdom tooth that has not erupted and is incorrectly located in the jaw injures the neighboring teeth and soft tissues.
• Extensive caries damage.
• Installation of a bracket system. Sometimes only the removal of a wisdom tooth can ensure the correct movement of other teeth. Most often, problems arise at the stage of teething, which are associated with an increase in body temperature, the appearance of swelling or edema. More detailed information in each individual case will always be given to you by a dentist during a consultation. After that, a final decision will be made.

The inflammatory process in the gums at the moment of teething can be removed medically, in the form of oral baths using antiseptic drugs (Chlorhexidine, Rotokan, decoction of pharmacy chamomile) in combination with the use of drugs in the form of a gel (Metragil dental gel, Solcoseryl dental gel). There is also a surgical method of laser excision of the “hood” of the gums, which will significantly stop the process, and which is successfully used in our clinic. Any of these methods may be prescribed by a dentist or surgeon during a consultation, as self-medication can harm your health.

Treatment of this disease can be carried out conservatively by endodontic treatment, or surgically – by removing the cyst with part of the tooth root. Occasionally, tooth extraction may be necessary. Only a dental surgeon together with a dental therapist can give you the correct diagnosis and the possibility of treatment.
